This guy would show up for work dressed like a giant toddler.
there was nothing professional about him yet I tolerated him for several months. Everything he touched had to be redone, I spent many nights redoing his fixes just so I could get the bikes out on time. |
One day I asked him to change the oil on a really nice custom chopper that belonged to a longtime loyal customer. Later I went into the garage to check his progress and he had the bike on the ground draining the oil, I asked him why it wasn't on the lift, and he said he could change it better on the ground.

Later that afternoon when the customer came to pick up his bike he waked back in complaining about his fender being scratched.
Sure enough when I checked it out the paint was literally tore off both sides of the fender. The Hodad flat denied scratching it even though he was the only one to touch the bike. |
I checked the lift that he would have done the service on had he not done it on the ground and discovered long strips of peeled paint that matched the custom hanging on the wheel cradle and on the deck of the lift.
When confronted with the evidence the Hodad stuck to his lie and denied putting the bike on the lift at all. I apologized to the customer and paid to repaint the entire fender. I kept a lifelong customer and learned an expensive lesson. |

It doesn't matter how much someone boasts about how good they are, I verify everything from now on.

The Hodad always claimed to have a stellar reputation as a great mechanic and that he had a huge following even though not one single customer came into the shop because of his rep.
In fact people told me they stayed away because of him. |
This Ass Clown was always trying to steal customers from the shop to do work out of his garage. The ones he did manage to steal always came back because, even though he offered them a cheaper hourly rate, he took twice as long to complete the work so the ended up paying a lot more in the end. and he never backed up his work.
